afa Umpire Information
Whether you are a veteran umpires or just surfing the web, WELCOME.
We are excited about the upcoming 2008 season and the dramatic changes taking place within AFA. We are forming a new slow-pitch softball division. I have been meeting regularly with our AFA Nevada State Director, Joey Markakis, AFA Utah State Director and Southwest Region Director, Bobby Letterman, Glenn Davidson, AFA Arizona State Director, AFA Southwestern Region Umpire-in-Chief, Art Gomez, and both Ron Gossmer and Terry Fullmer, Founders and National Directors, to plot the course for 2008. We are all working closely to develop a comprehensive Umpires Plan that will have a more structured umpire recruitment and training program as well as on-going tips and news throughout the year. This web site is one of our first steps in being able to share information and strengthen our bond.
As umpires, we each have an opportunity and an obligation to help move softball, and our organization, to the next level and make it something with which we will be even more proud to be associated. You are encouraged to 'voice' your opinion and suggestions by using the “Help Line” email facility on this web site; every effort will be made to respond within a few days. It is only through the help of many that progress is made and there is no better time than now to make it happen.
